I think this means that when you compare things one is going to look small and wimpy and if you had a lot of faith and belief you could feel crushed by your hopes for that certain thing(s) for example : You thought could make the biggest snow ball and you think you are unbeatable , but then you see your friends snow ball and it is way bigger then yours and all your joy is crushed , vanished , stolen .
